What is a Food and Fund Drive?
A food and fund drive is an excellent opportunity for the Apache Junction community to partner with the Apache Junction Food Bank in our fight to end hunger. Food and Fund Drives are conducted by churches, RV parks, neighborhoods, businesses, service clubs, schools, military units, scouts, sports teams and any group of dedicated people who realize it takes local initiative to solve a local problem.
They are critical to the mission of the Apache Junction Food Bank in collecting enough food and funds to feed individuals and families in need in East Valley communities. Most of our clients live in the city of Apache Junction but our boundaries are a little wider than the city limits.
We have large food boxes, donated by RAD, and a complete kit to help you host a drive. It can be found on our website at www.ajfoodbank.org or you can email email@example.com for more information. The kit provides all the details you need to hold a successful campaign.
Why are food and fund drives so important?
Even though we engage in several food rescue operations, a major portion of our non-perishable food items come from food drives. Monetary donations allow us to purchase food needed to create balanced meals. We can purchase $5 worth of food for every $1 donated.
What times of year is then most critical need of additional donations?
We always have a need for donations. However, our shelves tend to be emptier during the holidays and in the summer months.
What types of food are you collecting?
There is a shopping lists in our kits but generally we need nonperishable items like peanut butter, tuna, pasta, pasta sauces, rice, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, jello, mac and cheese, stuffing or boxed meals.
- Donate items that you would eat.
- Check that items are still within the “use before” date.
- We can only accept unopened items in their original packaging.
Do you accept cash donations as well as food donations?
Yes. Funds are greatly needed to keep our doors open and maintain basic staple food item supplies. The Apache Junction Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) Arizona Qualifying Charitable Organization. Your gift qualifies as a tax credit which is fully tax-refundable in the state of Arizona. Make donations online, through the mail or come to the Food Bank.
Can the Apache Junction Food Bank pick-up my collected food? The AJFB has limited staff and vehicles already used daily for food pick ups from local grocers. Your delivery to the AJFB is appreciated but, if that is not possible, call us at 480-983-2995 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a pick up.
Where is the Apache Junction Food Bank located and when is it open?
575 N. Idaho Road, Suite 701, Apache Junction, AZ 85119. We receive food donations Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri from 8:30-11:30 am and 1 pm to 3:30 pm; and Wed and Sat from 8:30 am- 10 am.
