Volunteer Junction: May 2018 Ideas and Updates in the Apache Junction Food Bank
Good News: Lori Blank & Associates Hosts Annual Shred-A-Thon Benefiting AJFB
Over $700 and 1,000 pounds of nonperishables and water were donated to the AJFB thanks to Gold Canyon-based Real Estate experts Lori Blank & Associates, LLC. The professional group of associates offer real estate options throughout the East Valley. Our volunteers had tons of fun with them at the April event, where locals brought documents to shred along with a food or fund donation. Thanks to her and the whole team for the group effort, great music, cold drinks and a big welcoming smiles to everyone who supported the community event!

Lori, her daughter Lisa and AJFB Volunteer Stormie Montgomery celebrate with a lil’ goofing around during a slow moment at the busy three-hour event.
Apache Juction Postal Food Drive
Saturday, May 12, 2018
Last minute preparations are taking place for the National Letter Carrier’s Postal Food Drive in two days.
If you are one of our 40 AJFB volunteers, please wear your volunteer shirt (either orange or teal – black for board members and managers), PARK IN THE DIRT LOT BEHIND THE FOOD BANK (accessible off Superstition Road) or off property so that there is room for 60+ other cars and lots of postal workers/traffic.
Music and food will be served. This year’s goal is 30,000 lbs of food! Board Member and Event Chairperson Sharon Allison-Brown and Operations Manager Jim Jones will run the show and want to thank you for coming out in such numbers! Special Thanks to the AJ Postal Workers, AJ Fry’s Food and Drug, Mesa and AJ Walmarts and the AJ Little Caesars!
Please remind friends, family and neighbors that they can leave nonperishable items out early Saturday morning at their mail boxes for Postal Workers to bring into the AJFB.
Last Note:
We need EGG CARTONS – LOTS and LOTS OF EGG CARTONS IN THE COMING WEEKS!
It is our plan to send this Volunteer Junction communication to our volunteers, board members and staff regularly to share news and give updates about the goings on at the AJFB. Many of the good news items are also shared in our twice annual newsletter and with regional media. Please always feel free to make suggestions and offer ideas. We want to foster a positive volunteer experience through open communication.
