AJ Food Bank Remembers Gerry Hundt Past President
A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at 11am Saturday March 2ndat Gold Canyon Resort in Arizona. Funeral Services will be May 4thin Middle Ridge WI, at St Peters Church.
Gerald was born November 28th, 1947, in La Crosse, WI. The 1stborn son of Arnold and Madonna Hundt, whom he proceeded in death. He married the love of his life, Susan Lisko on August 8th, 1971.
Surviving Gerry are his wife Susan; daughter Jenea Tanberg, along with her husband Jeremy, and their two children, Hunter and Madison; son Brett Hundt; and son Brandon Hundt, his wife Tiffany, and their two children, Beckett and Kinley. Gerry leaves behind 9 siblings; Jean Mashack, Rich Hundt, Char Mashak, Don Hundt, Bonnie Hundt, Carol Nicolai, Rod Hundt, Greg Hundt and Tim Hundt.
Gerry graduated from Bangor High School in 1965. He served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. He attended the University of LaCrosse WI, where he studied Physical Education and played Baseball. He was MVP of his college team and graduated in 1974. Gerry then spent the next 32 years serving various non-profits throughout the Midwest and Southwest United States. He served as the CEO of Family YMCA of the Desert and continued as Vice President of Planned Giving for both San Diego County and Phoenix area YMCA’s.
Gerry was also involved in many aspects of community service and was a dedicated family man. Free time was spent coaching, traveling with family and keeping his yard immaculate. Besides golfing, fishing, hiking the Superstitions, or hanging with his grandchildren Gerry spent much of his retirement time by volunteering as the president of the Apache Junction food bank and tending to his garden. The AJ food bank has honored his service by creating the Gerald Hundt Endowment Fund which will help the food bank to strengthen its financial stability for years to come.
Gerry was an inspiration to many people over his short life. We will miss his wisdom, sarcasm, generosity and leadership greatly. We love you very much and may you rest in peace. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family request a donation be made to the Gerald Hundt Endowment Fund through the Apache Junction Food Bank.
